Utah State University College of Agriculture Hall of Honor Award

Background

The Utah State University College of Agriculture Hall of Honor Award was created in 1999.  This award recognizes alumni who, now in the twilight of their career, have brought honor and recognition to themselves and the college.  Each year, alumni are nominated to receive the award.  Two nominees may be selected to receive this honor each year, however, if no nominations meeting the selection committee’s criteria are submitted, the selection committee may choose to select no honorees in that particular year. 

The selection committee is comprised of the College of Agriculture Alumni Council, the Dean and Associate Deans of Agriculture, and the college alumni association Executive Director.  The Development Office in the College of Agriculture administers the program.

Criteria

Nominees must have achieved the following to be considered:

 

  • They must have a degree from Utah State University College of Agriculture (BS/BA, MS/MA, or PhD);
  • They must have made a significant contribution to his or her profession or society in general;
  • They must have a record of outstanding accomplishments.
  • They may still be active in their careers, but can have no fewer than 25 years of employed service at the time of their nomination.


Current Utah State University College of Agriculture faculty and staff, and elected officials currently serving in office are not eligible for this award.

Nomination Document

The nomination document, should include the following biographical information about the nominee (attach additional pages as needed):

 

  • Current position
  • Education (institution(s), graduation date(s), degree(s))
  • Professional positions held
  • Professional and civic activities and contributions
  • Awards and citations received
  • Personal information
  • Any other information germane to the nomination


A one-page narrative statement about why you feel this nominee merits induction into the Hall of Honor should accompany this information.  Please include information about the nominee, such as:

 

  • Outstanding personal qualifications.
  • Examples of professional and/or civic accomplishments and contributions.
  • Details about how the individual’s contributions have changed his/her chosen profession.

 

Please limit your complete application to no more than 10 pages.


Recognition Ceremony

The award recognition ceremony is held on as a part of the annual College of Agriculture Awards and Honors Banquet during Agriculture Week each year.  The next ceremony will be on October 1, 2009.   Individuals selected must be in attendance to receive the award.

 

Nomination Deadline
