NAWG Internship
The National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG) is seeking college interns to work directly with its Directors of Government Relations. The internship is intended for students in their junior or senior years of college prior to graduation.
NAWG is a Washington, DC-based trade association representing U.S. wheat farmers on a wide range of issues including international trade, environmental regulations, conservation issues, tax and finance policy, domestic farm programs, and other relative matters. NAWG offices are located near Capitol Hill, one block from the Senate office buildings and the Union Station Metro terminal.
- Assisting Directors of Government Affairs in working with Congress and the Administration by attending hearings, mark-ups, meetings, drafting communications, preparing testimony, tracking votes, preparing materials, filing, and other activities.
- Conducting research, preparing reports and helping with weekly NAWG Newsletter.
- Other general office and/or clerical responsibilities.
Student will be responsible for all living costs while in Washington, DC to include food, transportation to and from work, and housing accommodations. Business travel and other associated costs will be covered by NAWG. NAWG will provide a stipend of $1500/month for the months worked.
Preference will be given to applicants from states with NAWG-affiliated state wheat grower associations.
Successful applicants must be able to work well in a group setting, demonstrate an interest/ connection to agriculture, have a working knowledge of government, and be interested in pursuing an agriculturally related career after graduation.
